We’re excited to announce our June Illuminating Impact winner, Manchester Community Music School!
Manchester Community Music School provides accessible music education and music therapy services for people of all ages, abilities, and interests across southern New Hampshire. Its programs include early childhood classes, private lessons, ensembles, Suzuki instruction, summer camps, outreach partnerships, and more than 50 concerts and recitals each year.
Manchester Community Music School believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the life-changing impact of music. Since 1984, the nonprofit has worked to remove barriers to music education by providing lessons, ensembles, music therapy, scholarships, and outreach programs that serve people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Through partnerships with schools, healthcare providers, community organizations, and social service agencies, MCMS brings music beyond the classroom and into the community, ensuring more individuals have access to its educational, therapeutic, and social benefits.
One of the school's greatest strengths is its community outreach. MCMS partners with local schools and organizations throughout New Hampshire to provide music instruction and enrichment opportunities for children and families who may not otherwise have access to them. These programs introduce students to music, encourage creativity, and help build confidence while strengthening connections within the community.
Manchester Community Music School also provides board-certified music therapy services for children and adults with developmental disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, neurological conditions, mental health challenges, and those recovering from illness or injury. Individual and group therapy sessions are offered both at the school and through partnerships with healthcare and community organizations, using music as a tool to support communication, emotional well-being, physical rehabilitation, and overall quality of life.
Beyond education and therapy, MCMS creates opportunities for students and community members to perform, collaborate, and connect through ensembles, recitals, concerts, and special events. By combining exceptional instruction with a commitment to accessibility and community partnerships, Manchester Community Music School continues to make music an essential resource that enriches lives throughout New Hampshire.
