Illuminating Impact: Meet Our August Winner The Humane Society of Greater Nashua!
We’re thrilled to announce our August Illuminating Impact winner: the Humane Society for Greater Nashua (HSFN)! HSFN is a shining example of compassion and commitment in Southern New Hampshire, uplifting pets, people, and our shared community.
Empowering Pets & Families Across Greater Nashua
Since its founding in 1900, HSFN has proudly served as a steadfast advocate for animals, caring for over 2,500 pets annually through adoption, shelter, and essential services. Their mission reflects a deep belief that healthy, happy pets strengthen our communities, and that every life matters.
Comprehensive, Community-Centered Programs
HSFN’s approach goes far beyond sheltering animals. Their programs include:
-
Pet adoptions ranging from cats and dogs to small animals like rabbits, ferrets, and guinea pigs.
-
Affordable veterinary care preventative services including vaccines, spay/neuter surgery, dental cleaning, flea/tick prevention, and more, made accessible via community.
-
The Abby Fund provides life-saving medical treatment to shelter pets who would otherwise face euthanasia.
-
A dog transport program that has relocated more than 6,000 pets from overcrowded shelters to HSFN, where they find new homes.
-
Support services like counseling, behavior training, a Safety Net program for families in crisis, and cremation/burial options to honor pets at the end of life.
-
Community connection initiatives such as Rescued Treasures, a resale program that raises funds by selling donated items, both online and at local markets.
