Illuminating Impact

The American Cancer Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with cancer and their families through research, advocacy, and patient support. Its mission focuses on helping ensure everyone has the opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer while working toward a future where cancer no longer has the same impact on individuals and families.

Beyond funding and conducting cancer research, the American Cancer Society provides resources and support throughout the cancer journey. This includes a 24/7 helpline, free transportation to treatment, lodging for patients who must travel for care, cancer information, and connections to additional services and resources. Through these programs, research efforts, and advocacy initiatives, the organization works to make cancer care and support more accessible to people and communities across the country.

Waypoint at the Richie McFarland Center in Stratham, New Hampshire, provides free resources and support designed to strengthen families and promote positive outcomes for children. As part of Waypoint’s statewide network of Family Resource Centers, the center connects families throughout Rockingham County with professional guidance, educational opportunities, community resources, and services for parents and children.

The center offers home visiting programs, parent education, playgroups, support groups, and assistance accessing community and state resources. Families can also receive support during pregnancy and early childhood, basic-needs assistance when available, health care coordination, and early intervention services for young children with or at risk for developmental delays. The center also provides opportunities for families to connect and learn together, including Peggy’s Playgarden, a nature-based outdoor space for children and families.
